European Veterinary companies are wanted for a Biobased Industrie (BBI) project

The project is focused at  “Obtention and valorization of natural bioactive extracts from agrifood residues”. 

The proposal currently involves several companies and research centers both from Spanish agrifood sector. We are looking for European companies interested in joining the consortium and working in the following fields:

- Agrifood waste suppliers-companies from:

• Winery industry
• Blueberry production
• Olive industry

- Bioactive extracts users-companies from:

• Veterinary (medicine): It will be studied the development of an intra-mammary injection against mastitis in dairy cattle. The scope includes the API validation, formulation of the intra-mammary, and initial animal trials according to EMA and AEMPS requirements.
• Veterinary (zoosanitary): It will be studied the development of the product as preservative in semen eluents for animal artificial insemination. Initial tests confirm the antibacterial activity, and that the quality of the sperm is kept (mobility, count, etc). It is sought the substitution of synthetic antibiotics.
• Biocide (for disinfectant purposes in food industry): In vitro essays have shown good antibacterial and fungicidal properties, along with very promising properties inhibiting the bacterial biofilm formation. Studies will be done in vitro against the pathogens of interest, and studies will be repeated with the product formulated.
