Countries continue to face endemic and emerging health threats arising at the interface of humans, animals and the environment. In 2019, the Tripartite organizations – the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organisation of Animal Health (OIE), and the World Health Organization (WHO), launched the Tripartite Zoonoses Guide (TZG). As an update to the 2008 Guide, the TZG culminates from the effort of more than 100 experts coming together from around the world to provide guidance and best practices for using One Health approaches to address zoonotic diseases in countries. Using country examples, the TZG provides practical guidance, tools and approaches in seven key technical chapters: One Health mechanisms, planning and preparedness, surveillance and information sharing, investigation and response, joint risk assessment, risk communication, and workforce development. The TZG supports countries in mapping their national context and monitoring and evaluating their collaborative approaches.
